First Chinese Children’s Film “Little Journey” Starts Production in Hollywood

Recently, Candice Jiang (Chinese name Jiang Chen), a well-known Chinese host and actress, has taken on a new role as a film producer. Dedicated to promoting Chinese culture overseas, she participated in the investment and production of the first Chinese children’s film “Little Journey,” which began filming in Hollywood on June 14. Notable figures such as Chinese producer and supervisor You Jianming, principal of Golden Sunshine Academy Tan Ye, renowned young director Shi Tanxuan, and vice-chairman of the Los Angeles Chinese Film and Television Artists Association Ren Xiangdong were invited to the traditional Chinese-themed opening ceremony. The film “Little Journey” is set to be released on major platforms after completion and has already received invitations from several A-list film festivals.

Candice Jiang has recently added another layer to her identity as a renowned actress and host, now also serving as an overseas project investor and producer. Utilizing her experience both in front of and behind the camera, she founded Starbridge Picture and Starbridge Academy, focusing on children’s theater and film education overseas. Candice says, “Every child is like a star in the sky, unique and shining. They need the support and understanding of their parents, and at every stage of their growth, they need multiple ‘bridges’ to connect their interests and passions and realize their dreams. The initial purpose of Starbridge is to be such a bridge, accompanying children with love and dreams on their interesting journey of growth. We offer courses in public speaking, film acting, voice acting, scriptwriting, directing, shooting, and more. Film is not limited to acting; we encourage children with wild imaginations to write scripts and make films as part of their growth. For those with leadership qualities who want to express themselves through the lens, we teach them how to use the camera, storyboard, and convey their ideas visually. For children with voice talents, we help them become outstanding voices, whether in music, speech, or film. Our goal is to help children express themselves confidently. Confidence is the most important lesson in a child’s journey to adulthood.”

Candice Jiang, with her unique international perspective and high-quality resources at home and abroad, has built a mechanism for film training and delivery between China and the U.S. through Starbridge, creating a bridge to support the dreams of young people. In recent years, based in Southern California, she has been devoted to children’s theater training, aiming to comprehensively promote the filmization of children’s theater. She has also been actively involved in promoting and exporting Chinese culture overseas, helping “ABC” and American children learn Chinese and speak Mandarin.

Candice Jiang Unlocks New Role as Film Producer, Dedicated to Promoting Chinese Culture Overseas

As the first professionally produced children’s film by Chinese filmmakers in Los Angeles, “Little Journey” centers around a restructured family in the U.S. and, through the story of children’s interactions, attempts to enhance understanding between Chinese and American children with a light-hearted and pleasant visual style. As the producer of “Little Journey,” Candice Jiang has transitioned from actress and host to film producer. In an interview with the Los Angeles Post, she stated that the film took six months to prepare, from script to casting and filming.

The film is directed by Icy Li (Chinese name Bingliang Li), who came to the U.S. in 2016 to study film production at USC and UCLA. During his studies, Director Icy Li won the “Best New Director” and “Best Student Film” awards for “Trifles” at the GSIFF Film Festival in Los Angeles and the Las Vegas Film Festival. His works showcase the characteristics of Chinese and American cultures, reflecting his unique insights from his life in the U.S. and Chinese cultural background. “Little Journey” tells the story of a single white father and a single Chinese mother forming a new family and how their two children move from conflict to understanding. The production team consists of graduates from USC’s film school, and the child actors were selected from over 30 auditionees. Candice Jiang hopes that children who love acting will develop well in their professional fields and achieve great success.

Starbridge Picture and Starbridge Academy Promote Film Education for Children and Youth Overseas

With the growth of the Chinese and international student filmmaker community in the U.S., film creation topics have become increasingly diverse. Young filmmakers are gradually forming their own unique styles, and films featuring Chinese children may require more attention from young filmmakers and the Chinese community. Both on and off-screen, Candice Jiang’s passion and dedication to children’s films are evident. From children’s film training to film production, she has been building a high-quality film ecosystem for Chinese people in Southern California, playing a role in cultural output and promotion.

Starbridge Academy is currently dedicated to film education and training for children and youth, actively promoting cultural exchange between China and the U.S., spreading Chinese culture, and introducing more Hollywood stars and projects to China. Recently, she hosted the CCTV-6 film channel’s “World Film Tour,” inviting Hollywood filmmakers to help Chinese audiences better understand world cinema. In sports, Candice Jiang signed NBA star Tyrese Haliburton for business representation in China, expanding her business scope. She also assisted Hunan TV in inviting Western artists for the popular show “Singer 2024,” facilitating performance collaborations between Post Malone, JVKE, and Chinese artists, promoting cultural exchange between the two countries. In education, Starbridge Academy collaborates with Stanford child psychologist Dr. Cody Abbey, Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore’s acting coach Peter Frisch, and educators from major film schools to offer courses in film acting, voice acting, scriptwriting, vocal music, musical theater, and more. They aim to cultivate creative “little filmmakers” with professional skills. Starbridge Academy encourages children and youth to create scripts, direct, act, and film their works, offering an annual $100,000 scholarship to support their progress and growth. They also facilitate talent exchanges between domestic and overseas institutions and are set to form a strategic partnership with the New York Film Academy, providing top talent to leading companies like Hunan TV, Mango TV, iQIYI, Jiaxing Media, Giant Pictures, Caviar Entertainment, and director Yang Wenjun’s studio. They also link with the United Nations to let more Chinese children and youth voice their opinions at UN conferences.

With the expansion of overseas artist agency services, Starbridge Picture’s overseas business includes global business representation for Hollywood stars and NBA players, as well as supporting Chinese artists going abroad. They have strategic partnerships with renowned Hollywood producer Frederic Golchan (known for films like “Kimberly Chaos Theory” and “Twelve”) and Star Trek director Keith Tsuji, leveraging extensive domestic and international film and business resources to provide comprehensive support for artist development.

Estonia, 31st Jul 2024 – Nothing is stable in our modern world, where technologies move ahead of us. They have become a part of daily home, work, or study routines. If you are as lost as I was once with the redundancy of these things in our lives – make yourself comfortable. As for a student, it didn’t go unnoticed, so I couldn’t help but adapt to it. It took some time, but now I see how necessary and helpful it can be sometimes.

Embracing these changes has turned out to be a game-changer. You need to be more prepared than I was to explore the future of learning. Who knows, you might even find that technology makes your studies more enjoyable and efficient than ever before!

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) have shaken the educational realm up with their entrance into the studying process. With the help of AI-powered tools, education becomes as easy as ever.

For example, I can find assistance with AI-driven adaptive learning platforms instead of bothering the professor. Also, each person is unique, and not all explanations are clear to me. Such platforms or tools can provide more tailored answers and find personal approaches for specific topics. And if you think it works only one way, read how professors and teachers use AI-assistants, feed them with data and observations for their individual students to get insights and scale their capacity to learn us, students, more effectively.

I also often free up my time for grading papers, such as multiple-choice, short-answer, and essay questions, just to be sure I’m on the right track. I don’t know how my parents lived without AI controlling everything at the same time. As a student, I have a lot on my plate, so I leave work with schedules, routine inquiries, or school operations to the AI. I wouldn’t trust AI or ML to make the call, but it can take unnecessary, mundane work.

A tutoring system would be a savior if you were an at-risk student like me who was stuck with procrastination. Take this website called Hemingway Editor, for instance. It reads your text, gives you instant feedback, and projects your possible grade. It does not exactly make you write like Mr. Hemingway, but maybe one day it will. The main point is to analyze my strengths and weaknesses, suggesting ways to improve and not get lost in academic tasks. My hopes weren’t too high, so such a system wouldn’t do the task for me. But it would show where to start.

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR)

I would say much more about virtual reality devices if I had one, but I have at least some experience with it. Once, I had a class with a focus on virtual reality exploration. The point was getting to know how to use such technologies. Each student was transported to ancient civilizations, deep oceans, or outer space. Then, there were some questions about our observations, feelings, and overall impressions.

If you are technologically knowledgeable, you’ve heard about Apple Vision Pro, which promises to boost VR education as well. Educators are expected to use it to create interactive virtual environments where students will explore, interact with, and manipulate 3D models, simulations, and other digital elements.

From my VR activity, I learned that these technologies turn passive learning into an active experience. Students can participate in virtual labs, historical role-play, or simulations. I think this is the best way to bridge the gap between theory and practice. I can even imagine how this can help medical students conduct surgeries or engineering students manipulate virtual machinery. This would be interesting to use in classes, not only for educational purposes.

You know, how they say? It’s 2025 in education when students say they went on a field trip and never left their VR headsets!

Blockchain Technology

My sole relationship with blockchain technology is to regret how I did not buy Bitcoin a bazillion years ago. However, I know some courses and training on my campus with a financial focus for students about investments and cryptocurrencies. It’s just good that educational institutions think outside the box and can provide relevant knowledge up to the time.

However, some universities and colleges go well beyond that. For example, MIT already issues blockchain-based student credentials and diplomas and is developing decentralized educational platforms.

I’m not into it, but some people are willing to spend their time on things like this. After all, staying ahead of technological trends seems an integral part of today’s world.

Internet of Things (IoT)

In my defense, no one in my surroundings has heard about the Internet of Things (IoT). I just didn’t know what it was exactly. Later I found out that it means whiteboards, tablets, projectors, and smart speakers work together. Basically, it connects the needed devices and systems in the educational realm. Our professor used IoT during the class while writing on the board; we had the same pictures on our tablets. It’s a minor thing that you do not notice until you know you can’t live without it.

And it is surely about to expand. The global education technology market is expected to grow from USD 142.37 billion in 2023 to USD 605 billion by 2027. So, if your classroom still has no “smart” devices, it just might be next in line to get those and make your learning experience more immersive and engaging.

Adaptive Learning Technologies

Once, I got an extra task for an English class to improve my grades. It was nothing special; I just needed to cover some gaps after my absence. Anyway, when I opened the test, I understood that it was the materials from my handed-in papers. I was touched by how much time my English professor spent on creating such a personal paper to work on. And you know what? Life is a lie. He said that he used AI algorithms to make the test tailored for me. So, I may have slightly overestimated his efforts, but good for him for nailing the technologies.

Adaptive Learning Technologies are also used to give feedback or create a personalized approach. There are platforms where you can choose what learning style suits you to understand the material. Mine is reading and writing, while you may perceive better with visual or auditory methods. When there are hundreds of students, doing exercises manually sounds insane.

Gamification in Education

When I was little, games were some kind of reward after a completed task. Because of this, I perceived games just as pleasure or entertainment. And then, gamification came knocking on the doors of education.

When our history professor told us that we would play a historical role-playing game, I thought I didn’t quite understand her. I was surprised when she gave each group a historical figure like Napoleon, Queen Elizabeth II, or Vincent van Gogh. The task was to understand the perspectives of different historical actors. Everyone loved the interaction, so we started doing it each week.

The point was not about the game but about testing our knowledge, provoking the natural human desire for competition, achievement, and recognition. Ever since there have been no boring history lectures. Such an approach shows another side of learning, breaking the monotony of cramming materials. And it is hella effective, too. Studies found an 89% increase in performance between students involved in challenge-based games vs. traditional lecturing.

Honestly, sometimes, having some games to help me complete the task is not enough either. I can be so depressed about deadlines and tasks that I can’t prepare food, not to mention the assignments. In such cases, I use writing services to lift the weight off my shoulders. The Best Essay Writing Services UK article is my go-to source for websites that are worth attention. I wanted you to be really hush-hush about such services because of all the integrity rules. But I could understand if you wanted to share it with someone.

If you were prejudiced before, I hope I could debunk myths about games in the studying process. Games can’t replace some methodology, but they can definitely make learning more engaging, interactive, and effective. Apart from in-class activities, I’ve also had experience with gaming platforms for repeating materials. There are numerous applications for any subject and taste, so why not try?

Online and Hybrid Learning Platforms

As a student, I witnessed COVID-19 and the rapid shift from traditional learning to digitalization. It made me review the concept of offline studying because I didn’t have such an opportunity. Even if I were on the ‘Against the Online Education’ team before, I had to give up all my prejudices and accept the new era of online learning. It was a hard pill to swallow because everything online wasn’t serious for me. I mean, don’t you think that Instagram or Reddit are something you can actually learn from? Me neither.

But after some time, I realized that it depends on the person, but it is much more convenient. There are different resources for studying from anywhere in the world. I could be at home with my family, visiting them and attending my university classes. Online platforms made me feel more comfortable because I didn’t need to communicate with people directly. I feel so much stress when I need to answer some questions in front of the whole class. Still, I got used to some offline lectures with some practical applications. I see the great point that I can learn online some theoretical base and then have hands-on experience in class.

I was skeptical about the change, but you can’t stop the tide. Online and hybrid learning gave me more than just sitting in the classroom. I started to explore the technologies and get to know different platforms. It wouldn’t be possible if I were stuck with old-fashioned studying methods.

Data Analytics and Learning Management Systems (LMS)

Thanks to data analytics and Learning Management Systems (LMS), our learning experience is about to get a whole lot cooler. First off, LMS platforms will be like your personal study buddy. They’ll use data analytics to track how you learn best: whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, prefer videos over reading, or crush quizzes but struggle with essays. Your LMS will know and adjust your course content just for you. It’s like Netflix, but for education!

Have you ever gotten stuck on a tough topic and wished someone could just help you right away? By 2025, LMS will have AI tutors that analyze your performance and give instant tips, resources, or connect you to a peer who just aced that topic. Moreover, predictive analytics will flag when you might need extra help though you did not know it yourself—no more last-minute cramming!

And the best part? The gamification we talked about before will be through the roof. Just think about it: earning badges and leveling up to finish tasks and truly get the material. It’s making what could be a chore into a game while the knowledge network learns more about you from your data.

Assistive Technologies

Not long ago, students with disabilities couldn’t access studying and experience this firsthand. I remember having one girl from the English Literature course who was in a wheelchair. I wouldn’t say that she was different or stood out in any way, as she was part of the learning process as everyone else. I don’t think she could do this 20 years ago. Technologies promote inclusivity and make it real to study for those who have physical, sensory, cognitive, or learning disabilities.

I also used some of the assistive technologies when I was too tired to do it myself. For example, with speech-to-text software, I could focus on the material and just listen instead of maniacally jotting it down. When I was on my way to university, I also did the opposite with text-to-speech software, which converted these notes into kinda a podcast. Subtitles for videos saved me time because I did not always have a chance to watch the materials with the sound. This feature suits people with hearing impairments, but I found some benefits for me.

Other technologies can be useful not only for people with disabilities. Note-taking tools, adaptive keyboards, or even alternative communication devices are part of the modern world, where people can feel confident and independent. These technologies don’t erase other challenges during the study but can encourage students to grab life by the horns.

Summing Up: What to Expect in 2025 EdTech

As you can understand, it’s only the beginning. When we started to accept and not be afraid of technology’s presence in the education system, we started the revolution. It’s already hard to imagine studying without online platforms, games, or assistance.

This shift has opened up countless opportunities for interactive and personalized learning experiences. We’re now at a point where virtual classrooms and AI-driven tools are the norm, not the exception. As technology continues to evolve, so will our learning methods, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. The future of education is bright, and it’s because we are willing to welcome the digital age without fear.

In recent years, Vietnam’s game market has witnessed a strong surge. According to Newzoo, a market research firm, Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing regions for mobile gaming worldwide, with an annual growth rate of 7.4% from 2022 to 2025, compared to the global average of 3%.

In Vietnam alone, there are 54.6 million gamers generating nearly $800 million in revenue (including estimates for IAP and local payment).

The Ministry of Information and Communications aims for the Vietnamese game industry to hit a revenue milestone of $1 billion by 2030. Vietnam is currently in the top 8 for global game downloads and hosts over 35,000 game developers, nearly equal to China.

The Vietnamese gaming industry aims to reach a revenue of $1 billion by the year 2030.

With its rapid growth and untapped potential, Vietnam is becoming a “gold mine” full of opportunities for leading game companies from Japan, South Korea, China, and North America.

Barriers and Challenges

However, entering this market is no easy task. International publishers face numerous challenges, from legal barriers and cultural differences to the fierce competition from local publishers.

This requires that foreign publishers need an appropriate strategy and support from partners who are well-versed in the Vietnamese market.
