Rowdy Oxford is particularly critical of organizations that invest heavily in leadership training while ignoring operating conditions. “We spend money teaching people how to lead, then place them into systems that make leadership unsustainable,” he says. “That is not development. Rather than framing burnout as a personal resilience issue, Oxford calls for structural accountability. “Resilience is important, but it cannot compensate for misaligned expectations, chronic overload, and unclear authority,” he adds. “If your system requires leaders to be superhuman just to survive, the system is the problem.”
