The increase is timely, with the average cost of an adoption now reaching $50,000 or more. In most cases, adoption expenses are due in full, upfront, before the adoption can be completed. This can be an insurmountable financial burden for American families that want to adopt. Unfortunately, other adoption grants are not available to everyone. Single parents, people of color, non-Christian families, and LGBTQ+ families frequently face roadblocks when trying to adopt and apply for financial assistance.
